Josephine E. Wood's Journal [entries|friends|calendar]
Josephine E. Wood

"On a night like this the moon sits still,
and the stars are watching, too.
The way you move is a lullaby.
I could fall in love with you.
The day's last sigh turns to cold night's breeze,
And this love hangs thick like the willow leaves.
I've hid myself away from this,
But your silhouette is the Judas' kiss
."

Before I start, I apologise in advance for my lack of filter today. Apparently I'm not the only one, so I'm just going to run with this. I never get the chance to let my hair down, so now that I have an excuse... There is plenty to be said. If you're prone to getting your feelings hurt, I suggest you back away now. Every time I attempt to write something my quill gets the better of me.

Before any of you complain: no, I will not ward my journal. Get over it. Go act like a raging tosspot somewhere else.

Well done today, Ravenclaw. Beautiful snag, Kinley. If this happens to be my last year on the pitch, I'm honoured to have played with you lot. I really couldn't have asked for a better group of players.

Sof. Nona. Cheers for putting up with me, especially lately. I'm not entirely sure why, but I've been a right mess this year. You two are the best. What will I do next year when September rolls around, and I don't wake up to your gorgeous mugs every day?

For someone who lives to plan, I'm growing weary of thinking about my future. It's more stress than it's worth. I haven't felt the same since, well, I can't really point out a single event that triggered it. It's a combination of everything. I'm not quite content yet, and Merlin only knows why.

Part of me feels the need to apologise to you, Cal. for pulling away after you- Then again, I'm not too sure I've felt comfortable trusting you since- Well. I suppose it's for the best anyway. I love you like mad despite myself. I know that sounds harsh, but I'm not sure what to say to make it better. Maybe it's my fault. Truthfully, it scares the bloody daylights out of me.

I'm so far out of my element it's not even funny anymore. Not even the pitch can fix this. Perhaps a good memory alteration will have me singing a different tune. I'm ready for a holiday. December can't come soon enough.

Benjamin Montague is a god with the Bludger bat. Cheers for keeping the Hufflepuff team at bay, love.

Back to Prank Week... [June 15 @ 12:17pm]
Date: 15 November 2025

That was interesting... Is it just me, or is prank week getting more and more obnoxious as the school year drags on?

Well done, prankster. I'm not sure how you've managed to get the lot of Hogwarts to resound with the same phrases back to back, but well done all the same.

Starting Off on the Proper Foot [June 8 @ 4:48am]
Date: 8 November 2025 (written 4:50 AM)

[Warded to Nona & Sofie]
Hello there, ladies. I just wanted to let you know I won't be here when you wake up. I couldn't sleep much past four, so I've decided to get up and start my day. See you at breakfast.
[/End Ward]

Funny story. I woke up today with a rather annoying song in my head.

When my brother and I were younger, Grandma and Grandpa Bell used to take us on camping trips with our cousins. Well, they made a point to use muggle artifacts just to increase the excitement a bit and teach us to be mindful of more than ourselves. I tell you all this because this morning I woke up at 4 AM with an incessantly bright light shining in my eyes (turns out one of the house elves had misplaced something in our dormitory), and it reminded me of my brother's rotten song the night Grandpa Bell got onto him for shining a flashlight in my eyes to wake me up.

"Shine it in you eyes. Shine it in you eyes. Hi-ho the derry-o. Shine it in you eyes."

Sorry, Trav. You knew it would come back to haunt you someday. That day is today.

I'm off for a jog.

Wrapping Things Up [June 7 @ 7:35pm]
Date: 7 November 2025

If any of you seventh year Herbology students have some free time this evening, Professor Longbottom could use a few more to help with the wolfsbane. We have to work on the soil a bit before winter sets in. Don't forget to bring some gloves. It doesn't take long for your hands to go numb if it makes contact with your skin. Believe me, it's not an enjoyable experience after the first few minutes or so.

On another note, Charms Club isn't too shabby. Cheers for planting that seed in my head, Juno. Working with the younger students is surprisingly fulfilling. You have to understand things on another level to be able to teach someone else. It's good practise for NEWTs anyway.

That Which Doesn't Kill You... [June 5 @ 1:27pm]
Date: 5 November 2025

I'm not going to give opinions about the match since I know that would be absolutely pointless. I have my beliefs about the way the game was played and any fouls delivered.

I will say this: that fight at the end could have been avoided if the referee had made a point to blow the whistle once Flint hit the ground. Gryffindor continued to play as they were trained to do, and there is no harm in that. Any team would have done the same thing.

SEASON STANDINGS )

The defensive statistics mirror that of each teams' offense for the most part.

Where you are is everywhere I wanna be... [June 2 @ 1:43am]
Date: 2 November 2025

So... how about last weekend? Forgive me. I know I'm a bit late, but it's still fresh on my mind. You'll live.

Cal. I volunteered us you to join Charms Club. They meet Mondays before dinner. You're welcome! Really, though... if you're not interested just let me know ahead of time so I can have them strike your name off the list, love.

[Warded to Travis]
Well played Saturday. I'm glad you lot took that win from under their noses. Stellan must have been right pissed which is always fine in my book. The only problem I have with it is their team maintaining that number one seat right now despite the loss. Slytherin certainly is on a roll. Let's just hope the Gryffindor/Slytherin match is a short one.

Your foul on Entwhistle was complete rubbish. I have to hand it to Noah Pucey, though. He and Flint had amazing control of those Bludgers. All that aside, how are you doing?
[/End Ward]

[Warded to Self]
Saturday left me numb. The game was relatively successful for Hufflepuff, but it was better played on the Slytherin side of the pitch. I thought it through for a while and am exhausting other avenues for my post-Hogwarts career. It no longer makes much sense to put all my ducks in one pond. As much as it kills me, plan B is a necessity at this point.

This, however, pales in comparison to Sunday. Calum was is the most amazing.. It felt completely natural for us, and honestly, my nerves were virtually nonexistent. Definitely a good call on my part letting him make the preparations. No classes Monday meant we didn't have to come back down to earth until an hour or so before dinner. I'm almost positive Sof and Nona were surprised I stayed out so late, but they didn't seem worried about me either. As close as we've gotten over the past month, despite the fact it was quicker than I'm accustomed to, I have absolutely no worries. Calum would sooner throw a Quidditch match than willingly break my heart, of that much I'd bet my life. To be able to say that about him means it's serious business.

No, thank you, I do not wish to come back down from this high.
[/End Ward]

Congrats to the owner of the little clay men on a job well done. Your creations are still rumoured to be lurking around here somewhere, so that's a nuisance impressive.

Most Amazing Mates Ever! [May 26 @ 11:43pm]
Date: 26 October 2025

This week has been completely off the wall! Though the weekend could have gone better, it appears my mates have anticipated me and lightened the mood before I had a chance to sink into it. You lot are amazing. I love you so much it's unreal.

I came back to the dorm Sunday night to find calystegia had decided to take residence on my bedposts and an uneaten, delectable chocolate bar was waiting upon my pillow. I'm not entirely sure even yet who managed that one, but my best educated guess would be Nona. So not only did the room smell refreshing, I had something to keep me off my feet for at least five minutes. Chocolate is heavenly.

On Monday Sofie set me up with a bit of Jane Austen to last me through the week. I must admit it serves as a better source for passing the time than Potions. The chocolate was a lovely touch as well. Mr. Darcy wasn't my favourite from the jump, but I knew the second Mr. Wickham stepped into the picture he was bad news. What a tool! I think at that point I chose Mr. Darcy out of spite. I would have read the collection in order of publication date simply because it's fitting, but Sof insisted I start with Pride and Prejudice. I've read Sense and Sensibility already but did so again since I enjoy it so much! That's the only one I'd gotten my hands on up until now. Now I'm on Emma. Cheers again, Sof.

Then an owl from my wonderful boyfriend turned up the same day. It's been a month. Really? It hardly feels that way! Cal certainly couldn't settle with sending a rose. No, he had to add in a rather amazing Snitch locket to boot. I've decided to replace my former good luck charm with this and give it a whirl though I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want to put in it.

Naturally I was slightly surprised, but I assumed it was just sheer dumb luck the week was working out all right regardless. Then Tuesday Keely owls me some really great photographs of the Gryffindor pride plus one, that "one" being me. I hadn't seen them before, so that certainly wasn't expected. Luckily she stopped by the dorm to help us put a dent in all the lollies she posted as well! I think it was that point I started to get suspicious, but it wasn't until Asher owled today to let me know it was "his turn" that I figured them out. I know it took a little longer than usual, but I'm not entirely back to par mentally just yet. I blame the nasty fall I took Saturday.

My roommates should be happy to hear that I've put the singing sunflower to bed for the night. However, if one of you attempts to send a frost its way, I will have your head... just so we're clear. It's brilliant, and I'm pretty sure it helped me study better at any rate. Silence is unnerving.

I say all that to tell you lot, once again, you're the absolute best a girl could ask for. I could never, ever make this up to you, so I hope you can just trust that you've managed to distract me from my slump long enough for me to realise it wasn't a big deal to begin with. Cheers again.

If anyone has a late night craving for sweets, you know where to find them. I'm feeling overly generous at this point.

[Added fifteen minutes later!]
Does the good just keep coming? Nona, you always know just what to say and when to say it, don't you? For those of you who may not already be in on this, Nona just owled a rather inspirational letter along with this ring, etched with one of my absolute favourite William Blake quotes. I'm finding though I'm not typically a jewelry sort of girl, I love that my mates know me well enough to sway me! Nona, I could never properly express how much your letter meant to me. Cheers, love.
